A Little About Enock
Title: Befriending My Fear
For fifteen years, I woke up every morning or night and went to a job that had become a part of my identity. It was stable. Predictable. It provided a paycheck every two weeks, health insurance, and a sense of security — all things a person with a young family values deeply. But somewhere between the daily routines, a quiet voice inside of me began to grow louder. It whispered of something more — a dream I had buried beneath practicality and responsibility. The dream of creating something of my own. Of building a business that reflected my purpose, my passion, and my truth. Still, every time I thought about taking that leap, fear spoke louder. “What about the bills?” “What about your family?” “What if you fail?” Fear became my shadow — always following close behind, always reminding me of what I stood to lose. After all, I could stay for another 15 years and become a millionaire. For a long time, I let fear hold the steering wheel of my life. But then one day, I realized something important: fear wasn’t my enemy. It was simply trying to protect me. It wanted safety, not failure. So instead of fighting my fear, I decided to befriend it. I sat with it. I listened to it. And then, I told fear that we were going anyway. Leaving my job of fifteen years wasn’t easy. The first morning after my resignation, I woke up and felt the weight of uncertainty pressing on my chest. No paycheck waiting. No insurance coverage. Just me — standing face to face with the life I had chosen. But with that fear also came freedom. The freedom to create. To serve. To live aligned with my vision instead of someone else’s schedule. I poured my heart into building my own business — a dream that had waited patiently for me to be ready. And you know what? The fear never completely went away. It still visits sometimes. But now, it sits beside me — not in front of me. Because I learned that courage isn’t the absence of fear. Courage is the decision to move forward with it. So I keep going — for my family, for my future, and for that quiet voice that once whispered, “You were made for more.”
